APEC 2004 International eHealth Seminar in Seoul, Korea.

Dr. Okamura was invited to present at the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) 2004 International eHealth Seminar in Seoul, Korea. Dr. Okamura’s presentation was entitled, “eHealth in the Pacific Islands Region: An Environmental Scan of Issues and Opportunities.” An eHealth Working Group will be established under the APEC Health Task Force.

Telecommunications Information Resource Management (TIRM) Graduate Certificate Program

PEACESAT and the Telecommunications and Information Policy Group will administer the Telecommunications Information Resource Management (TIRM) graduate certificate program. This program has been transferred from the Department of Communication to TIPG. The program will be launched next quarter and will be offered in a hybrid mode using video teleconferencing and on-line modalities. There are a total of five, three credit courses required for this graduate certificate:

1. Telecommunication Systems and Networks (COM 681)
2. Telecommunication and Information Services (COM 682)
3. Information Research and Development Methods (COM 683)
4. Telecommunication Planning and Management (COM 684)
5. Seminar (COM 680)

April 22, 2004 - American Samoa & Iraq VTC

iraq conferenceTIPG was able to connect US Soldiers in Iraq with American Samoa in a Video Teleconference (VTC) to view the graduating class of 2004 from the American Samoa Community College. American Samoa Governor Tongiola Tulafono was present via the VTC and provided words of gratitude and encouragement for the men and women serving in the armed forces as well as congratulatory words for the graduating class.
