The “Advanced Seminar in International Environmental Studies: An International, Multi-Institution Pilot of the Asia Pacific Initiative” was launched successfully. PEACESAT and the Telecommunications and Information Policy Group (TIPG) are the secretariat of the international joint graduate certificate course and are organizing the development and implementation of the course.
This involves technical and program coordination among the partnering institutions, they are: Keio University, Tokyo, Japan; UN University, Tokyo Japan; Ryukyus University, Okinawa, Japan; University of the South Pacific, Suva, Fiji; Asian Institute of Technology, Pathumthani, Thailand; National University of Samoa, Apia, Samoa; East-West Center, Honolulu, Hawaii; and the University of Hawaii; Honolulu, Hawaii. The course is offered through video teleconference and supplemented with the moodle eCourse Management System.
The Pacific Information and Communication Technology Academy (PICTA) was a one-year pilot educational training program with an intense focus on ICT operations, networking, and database systems during the fall of 2005.
